The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens
This is one of the most fascinating places Sofi and Sun have visited together. With its rich history and a charming gift shop, The Huntington is much more than just a garden — it feels like a journey around the world.
What makes it especially unique are the many international gardens. In a single visit, you can feel like you’re traveling across continents — from tropical botanical landscapes to a classical Chinese Suzhou-style garden, then to a romantic French rose garden, and even into a peaceful Japanese zen garden. The Chinese garden is so beautifully done that it truly feels like stepping into China.
You can also learn a lot about plants and horticulture here. One lovely highlight is the option to enjoy afternoon tea in the rose garden, which makes for a perfect outing with friends — relaxing, scenic, and very photo-worthy.
The entire property is quite large, and one day honestly doesn’t feel like enough to see everything. We recommend choosing a few gardens that interest you most and exploring at a comfortable pace. If you fall in love with it, you can always come back on your next LA visit to discover the rest.
It’s also located in Pasadena, making it easy to head into the area afterward for a nice meal or some relaxing time around town.
